Terms of Use
Effective 22 August 2026 · Apply to the Coffre service: web application, browser extension and Android application.
The essentials. Coffre is a zero-knowledge password manager. Your master password never leaves your device and we cannot reset it: if you lose it together with your recovery kit, your vault contents are permanently lost. This limit is the counterpart of end-to-end encryption; it is essential to the service, and you accept it when you create a vault.
1. Parties and acceptance
The Coffre service ("Coffre", "the service") is operated by Groupe Axologique Inc. ("we"), a company established in Quebec, Canada. By creating an account or using the service, you ("you") accept these terms together with the privacy policy, which forms an integral part of them.
You must have the legal capacity to enter into a contract. If you use Coffre on behalf of an organization, you represent that you are authorized to bind it.
2. Description of the service
Coffre stores, synchronizes and fills credentials and other secrets. Your vault contents are encrypted on your device before any transmission; our servers hold only encrypted data and authentication digests. The service comprises the web application, the browser extension and the Android application, along with revocable access delegations that only you create.
3. Your account
- You are responsible for the accuracy of your account information and for keeping your passwords confidential.
- An account is personal. Sharing one account between several people is not provided for by the service.
- You must report any unauthorized use of your account without delay to info@coffre.ai.
4. Master password and recovery — essential limit
The master password that unlocks your vault is separate from your account password and is never transmitted. We can neither know it, nor reset it, nor decrypt your vault on your behalf. Coffre gives you a recovery kit when the vault is created: keep it offline. Losing the master password and the kit at the same time makes the vault unrecoverable, including from our backups.
Export your vault regularly (Vault → Import / Export) and keep the export somewhere safe: it is in plaintext.
5. Subscription, prices and taxes
- Access to the vault requires an active subscription. New subscriptions may be closed or offered by invitation; the applicable price is the one displayed at the time of subscription.
- Prices are in Canadian dollars and are stated before taxes.
- Applicable taxes are added at payment time. For a customer located in Quebec, these are GST (5%) and QST (9.975%). For a customer located elsewhere, applicable taxes are determined by their place of residence.
- Payment is processed by Stripe. We hold no card number.
- The subscription is monthly and renews automatically until it is cancelled.
6. Termination by you
You may cancel at any time from the billing portal (Account → Subscription → Manage). Cancellation takes effect at the end of the period already paid; the service stays available until then. Amounts paid for a started period are not refunded pro rata, except where applicable law requires it.
You may also delete your account at any time (Account → Delete the account). Deletion is immediate and permanent: account, vault, items, files, log, paired devices, extension keys, delegations, sessions and subscription. It ends the subscription and gives no right to a refund of periods already paid, except where applicable law requires it.
7. Acceptable use
You undertake not to: use the service for unlawful purposes; attempt to reach another user's data; circumvent rate limits, quotas or authentication mechanisms; probe or attack the infrastructure without written authorization; resell access to the service. A good-faith vulnerability report is welcome at info@coffre.ai.
8. Availability and evolution
We aim for continuous availability without guaranteeing it. The service may be interrupted for maintenance, updates or causes beyond our control. We may change, add or remove features; if a removal affects an essential feature of a paid subscription, we notify you in advance.
9. Suspension and termination by us
We may suspend or terminate an account for breach of these terms, non-payment, or use that compromises the security of the service. Except in a security emergency or where required by law, we notify you and leave you a reasonable delay to export your vault.
10. Intellectual property
The software, the trademark and the content of the service remain the property of Groupe Axologique Inc. or its licensors. Your data remains yours: we acquire no right over your vault contents, which we cannot read in any case.
11. Warranties and liability
The service is provided "as is", with no warranty other than those provided by law. To the extent permitted by law, our total liability towards you, on any ground whatsoever, does not exceed the amounts you paid us during the twelve months preceding the triggering event.
Nothing in these terms reduces the rights granted to you by applicable law that cannot be waived, in particular those under Quebec's Consumer Protection Act.
12. Personal information
The handling of your personal information is described in the privacy policy, which complies with Law 25. The person accountable for the protection of personal information is Olivier Bérubé, info@coffre.ai.
13. Changes to these terms
Any material change to these terms will be published on this page with a new effective date and, for an ongoing subscription, will be signalled to you before it takes effect. Continuing to use the service after that date constitutes acceptance.
14. Governing law
These terms are governed by the law applicable in Quebec, Canada. The courts of Quebec have jurisdiction, subject to mandatory consumer-protection rules.
15. Language
These terms exist in French and in English. In case of discrepancy, the French version prevails.
